Today is my big sister’s birthday…we’ll refrain from posting her advanced age on the internet.  She might not like that too much.  Although, if you know how old I am and you add TEN YEARS then you’ll know how old she is.

Since she is so much OLDER than I am, she has always been a combination of older sister/mother, but without most of the negative things that come with either one of those positions.  When I was a kid, she was hands down my most favorite person in the world, ever.  Then she had to go and get married and move away, leaving me all alone.  Well, with my parents, but CLOSE ENOUGH.  I forgave her, eventually.  Probably because I got to go visit her and do lots of fun stuff.  Then she moved back to our hometown to settle down and have some babies.  Then I left her (paybacks).  Now we live two hours apart and both have very full, busy lives, which means we e-mail each other a lot and talk on the phone a lot.

Now that I have a family of my own, she’s definitely one of the first people I turn to when I need advice, sympathy,  or just someone to commiserate with me.  She loves my babies, she helps me out with whatever she is able to and I know if I needed anything she would come.  There aren’t usually a whole lot of people in the world you can say that about, and I am so glad she’s my big sis.
