Bring on the Pink
I had an ultrasound this morning and after patiently waiting through a computer crash and ultrasound machine reboot, we finally found out that the baby is a she! Arwyn is going to have a little sister. I felt a sense of overwhelming relief — to know that she looks healthy, that we can reuse those 50 tubs of clothes in the basement, and that Arwyn will have the chance to have a wonderful relationship with a sister like I have been blessed to have. I cannot stand not knowing things and have thought of little else for the past two days. I was very anxious this morning and felt so much better when the appointment was over. Knowledge is a wonderful thing. Oh, and I get to keep these:

I already know how to be a mother to a girl. Well, sort of. Don’t worry, I don’t suffer from any grand delusions that this will be easy in any way, but at least there will be a little bit less for me to figure out as we go.
We’re Back!

After an extended stay at my in-laws, where we did absolutely nothing, yesterday was a cruel shove back into the real world for all of us. Bubby had to go back to work, Arwyn had to go back to school, and I had laundry, errands, and the male charge to contend with.
I was determined to get a post up, but between dropping off and picking up Miss A, mopping my floors, umpteen loads of laundry and all of the other stuff that goes into my day it just didn’t happen. I did get my pictures uploaded, so if you are dying to see all of our holiday photos (and who wouldn’t be?), head on over to flickr. There are some really unflattering pictures of me from Christmas morning (thanks, Bubby!).
Arwyn got a gift card to Build-a-Bear in her stocking from Grandma and over our vacation we took her to the mall for our very first bear (er, cat) building experience. I have to admit, it was really fun–roasting store, long lines and all. Arwyn was so patient and well behaved. The only thing she asked for was a purple Hello Kitty t-shirt for her kitty cat. If you’ve ever been in one of those stores, where you could easily drop $100 outfitting your animal, you know why I think this is kinda cool.
Welcome to 2008. I’m off to the grocery store. The life of a stay-at-home mom is so glamorous.
